This set was an opener for Santana. In the Bowie intro, Trey said that All Things Reconsidered was a variation on the theme All Things Considered radio show on National Public Radio (prompting a quick ATR tease from Page). Trey added that whenever he thinks of SPAC, he thinks of National Public Radio and that they were now going to play a song that the crowd could sing along to. The intro subsequently included Simpsons and Random Note signals. Bowie later contained an Oye Como Va tease from Trey. Prior to starting Suzy, the band sung the first line a cappella in a different manner than the rest of the song.

soundboy1 So this was my 2nd show... I got kicked out of my first during the 5th song or something... So this was my first show really. Even though they were opening it was still great. SPAC is my home venue and I knew a bunch of people there so it was great. So great that when my buddy asked if I wanted to go the next night in Canadaguia "it's only like 2 hours!" And we all went and that's the beginning of the story... Show wise I don't remember too much I was 17 and all. I do remember at various times members of Phish playing with Santana. Especially Fishman... He was rocking the percussion rig...

Review by Ramble_On

Ramble_On My third show. Even though my first was in '90, I really didn't like them for a while so I didn't go back. Then saw Union College 5/17 and realized I should give them another chance. So, I was home from college for the summer, and although this venue is almost an hour from my house, it was still a hometown venue to me. I had seem my first Grateful Dead show there in '88 and had been going here steadily since I was 11 years old in '83.
So I talked one of my party buddies into taking the ride up in my red Chevy pick up. Passed a cop in the median on I-87 near Saratoga while I was taking a drink out of my bud light bottle. He never followed so it was a win already. Got to the venue early enough and it was very empty. Like, probly a hundred or two people on the lawn total for Phish. i remember seeing at least one taper, but didn't know the songs well enough yet to recognize anything. I vaguely remember the Santana stage set up and that Phish came out but it was more of just another fun night at SPAC rather than a Phish show. Saw every Phish show at SPAC until about 2016, hated that my streak ended.

Review by DollarBill

DollarBill Not too bad of a set from what I could hear anyway. This was an audience recording. Really boomy in the low end. Weird after hearing all those board recordings of this tour with Santana.

Golgi cuts in during the middle section, so the end sounded nice anyway. ATR is actally really good. Maybe a few off notes but, they have been getting faster as they get used to this one. Then the explanation from Trey about NPR as Bowie begins. Bowie itself had some brief problems but turns out ok in the end. Horn is kind of a mess from Mike's part which throws Trey off a little in the middle section. Suzy does have a very unique intro like a boy band or barbershop harmony. Llama rips, as usual, though it's not the same without Carlos. A little taste of barbershop comes up with Adeline. Trey says thank you and they close it up with a sweet Rocky Top.

Pretty average set with a few loose parts.
