MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 325

Welcome to the 325th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the second of May. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the songs and dates of the two mystery clips. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Good luck!

Answer: Congrats to multiple Jam Charts contributor @HarborSeal, who pulled his third MJM win while reminding us he's one of the most interesting men in the world. This week he insta-identified the 12/7/99 "Halley's Comet," and after some poking around the setlists, realized that Jennifer Dances to the 7/27/14 "Tweezer." Thanks to @wumbo for his fine puzzle and finer mixing work – to hear more of and about his jawdropping audio production skills, check out the first post of our new series: "From the Tapers' Section." Stop by soon for MJM326, when the number of clips remains constant, but the difficulty takes the next step.

jimsleftear So are you saying you knew these without even listening to them at all to verify?
In the words of Ron Burgundy, "I'm not even mad...I'm impressed."

Damn that's impressive. I knew the Halley's right away but spent an hour going through Themes as I was convinced that's what it was. Was really hoping for a win on my 26th Phishiversary. Well done!

justino I happen to like "Jennifer Dances". I say this knowing that it was meant to be a terrible song; I say this as a snobby high school English teacher who only reads high-brow literature; and I say this as someone who knows when bad writing is really bad. I still remember standing way up high in the CCCC (we could see the whole arena from where we were), hearing "Jennifer Dances" for the first time and thinking, "Damn, there has to be someone here named Jennifer dancing her ass off right now!"

Only listened to the clip once, but it sounded more "Free" to me but Theme and Free can definitely sound like each other during the jam part. I know they played Free some time in that 2nd set. I remember the Webcast with Trey grinning ear-to-ear as he led that "conga line" while they were doing I've Been Around. Fun fun.

I have been debating whether to make the trip for either of the MPP shows this summer. I remember back in 2000 when my college roommate caught the MPP show and the Hershey show. I was more jealous that he got a Fluffhead than that Theme>Dog Log>Mango sequence.

I was at that show! Sure Fluffheads are great to catch, but that 2nd set was a cathartic experience ... for me anyway.

Happy anniversary! Speaking of Fluffheads, 5/14/92 ain't no slouch:

I listened to that show yesterday. Originally got that show for the sick Antelope. We're two days away from the anniversary of the greatest Possum ever played.

Thank you! Looks like the next 5/14 to fall on a Monday is in 2029. I'm going to conservatively guess it'll take me that long to crack an MJM but rest assured, I'll be here to collect my digital-brain-implant code for my 1st win then..
